Our History
Origins
In 1923, the Hospital for the Insane in Ponoka became overcrowded due to returning war soldiers. To address this, the Province of Alberta built Alberta Hospital Edmonton.
Community Integration Begins
It started small—just 15 clients in the basement of Robertson-Wesley United Church.
Over 55 years ago, Alberta Hospital Edmonton took a bold step toward community integration. This initiative laid the foundation for a better approach to mental health care, emphasizing independence and support rather than isolation.
Excel Society Grows
From 15 clients to a thriving organization, our mission remains the same: empowering individuals and fostering independence.
What began as a local project has grown into the Excel Society, a leader in supportive living and community services.
Commitment to Care
Our approach prioritizes quality, safety, and continuous improvement, keeping them at the forefront of community support.

A Strong United Team
