Facilities
The North Edmonton School was redeveloped to make way for Balwin Villa. The complex includes a theatre/gymnasium that is available to the client-residents and the local community. The buildings are surrounded by an outdoor recreation area operated by the City of Edmonton.
Our Residence
Balwin Villa serves a variety of populations; including dementia care, mental health, brain injury and addictions. The main focus is on person-centered care where we empower our residents to be part of their care and encouraged them to remain as independent as possible.
We have 3 dementia units and 4 Mental Health units that provide the option to live in separated gender specific units. We have recently collaborated with Alberta Health to open a Recovery Transition Unit that will focus on skill development for those resident to one-day transition into a community setting.
